The department of Bodo is also one of the important departments in LOKD College. It was introduced in the year 1998 for the greater interest of the students. Before the introduction of the department formally the students had to appear in the Bodo subject without teacher. At the outset the department was introduced only for MIL subject in general course which was the long standing demand of the student community of HS and TDC in particular and the Bodo community in general. Since the inception of the department the students passed in the concerned subject having good score of marks.

Subsequently in the year 1999 under the due initiative of the department concerned the Bodo elective course was also introduced in the Bodo department of LOKD College with due permission of honourable GB of the college.

Soon after the introduction of the course the students have been opted at one of the elective subjects in the TDC examination and able to success in the said examination in every year.

The department also started the Bodo subject as Major Course at the degree level in 2006 for the greater interest of the students. After the completion of the course the Bodo students having major in the subject Bodo getting better scope for further higher studies at the Post Graduate standard etc.

It may be mentioned here that there is no group papers in undergraduate course in the department of Bodo. The Bodo language, literature and culture is being taught in the Bodo department as its course contents.
